Research and Technology Steering CommitteeResearch and Technology Steering Committee (RTSC) consists of thrust area leaders, the distinguished NOAA scientist, Center director, Center director for outreach and academic programs, and the partner campus PI’s. This committee will influence project–prioritization, funding decisions, and shape the research program. All Center projects will be annually reviewed to determine whether they should be expanded, proceed as originally planned, or be scaled back, and when appropriate, where proposals should be sent to try to obtain additional funding. The RTSC is the chain of communication between the research thrust area leaders and university partners and is responsible for facilitating integrated collaboration and efficient utilization of resources among the university partners. This committee will have a monthly meeting via teleconference facilities, and meet biannually. The members of the committee also make visits at partner institutions. The RTSC approves and monitors quality of student senior projects, MS projects, and PhD projects for students supported through the Center. The committee will also discuss budget issues, timely processing of expenses, student recruitment and retention issues, and new grant proposal writing. The Center director will chair this committee. |
