NOAA ISET Center Director’s Welcome

Dr. BililignWelcome to the NOAA ISET website!  On September 1, 2006 the NOAA Interdisciplinary Scientific Environmental Technology (ISET) Cooperative SCIENCE Center lead by North Carolina A&T State University began operation as part of the NOAA Educational Partnership Program.

The NOAA ISET Center will help contribute to the NOAA vision of a future in which decisions and actions for the benefit of humankind are informed by coordinated, comprehensive, and sustained Earth observations and information.  Credible and specific weather and climate predictions provide the foundation for good public policy.

The research and technology themes in the ISET Center include:  (1) atmospheric science, sensor science and sensor technology, (2) numerical and physical research and analysis of hurricanes, and (3) information technology tools for data fusion, data mining, and geospatial modeling and analysis

StudentsThe ISET Center involves an ethnically and geographically diverse team of scientists, engineers, educators and students from North Carolina A&T State University, California State University-Fresno, The City College of the City University of New York, Fisk University, University of Alaska Southeast, University of Minnesota, North Carolina State University, industrial partners, State government partners, and Federal partners.  Minority populations involved with the Center include African-American, Hispanic, Native American, and Native Alaskan. Collaborative faculty and student research projects are conducted at NOAA’s Earth System Research Lab (ESRL) in Boulder, Colorado.

Field Trip
If you are a high school student or K-12 teacher interested in math, science, and/or engieeering,
please explore the pages on the B.S. in Atmospheric Sciences & Meteorology, student summer camps, and teacher summer camps.  If you are interested in the B.S. program, contact us to schedule a campus visit to NC A&T State University.

Bililign VideoIf you are an undergraduate student in engineering, the physical sciences, or a related area, please explore the pages on the ISET summer Research Experiences for Undergraduate Students (REU) Program and the Ph.D. in Energy & Environment Systems and its B.S. to Ph.D. option.  If you are interested in the REU or Ph.D. programs, contact us to request an ISET DVD and schedule a campus visit to NC A&T State University.

If you are currently a graduate student in engineering, the physical sciences, or a related area, please explore the pages on the Ph.D. in Energy & Environment Systems.  If you are interested in the Ph.D. program, contact us to request an ISET DVD and schedule a campus visit to NC A&T State University.

All ISET programs are Student Centered emphasizing Mentoring, Research Ethics Training, Leadership Training, Design Projects, Online Courses, and Remote Experiments.

Enjoy surfing the ISET site and learning more about its research and education programs,
